Big Sister

Anita Stroud Partners

Anita Stroud has worked diligently to form partnerships with other organizations to supplement the capabilities of our own group. Because the ASYDC does not operate in the summer months, we work closely with the parents of our students to ensure that their children can get into constructive programs during that time. Some of the programs we refer students, are: Youth Opportunities University at Friendship Baptist Church; Back to Basics at Double Oaks Elementary School; and the Police Athletic League (PAL) Oaklawn Avenue.

Through partnerships with local churches, participants in the ASYDC program are experiencing additional activities such as “Little Sister/Big Sister” program; a mentoring program conducted at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. The Anita Stroud Foundation has also partnered with the ECHO Organization and Junior League of Charlotte to provide Christmas to some participants of the ASYDC.

Summer Camp

Summer Camp

One of the highlights of the end of the year program is the annual weeklong camping experience each summer. The children have the opportunity to experience being in the mountains, on the beach, or other locations. The "Dare To Be A Daniel" program is just one of the camping experiences available to the children for one week, at no charge through the Anita Stroud Foundation. Only the children who have faithfully participated in the program during the academic year are eligible for participation in the summer camp.
